You know we specialize in modern Ikat textiles - we take the traditional craft of painting the textile as it is woven, and we make our pillows, shawls, and throws with this exquisite process in modern designs. But sometimes we come across simpler hand woven pieces that are not quite what we do for our own collection, but are beautiful nonetheless. Voila! We were going to use this piece to create a special swing coat, and then when we saw how beautiful and large it was we put the scissors away and took the camera out. This is handwoven silk, with a black background, reddish border with elephants, and the geometric pattern in the center is silver, yellow, red, blue, and green. And warning, men love these too! By all means wear it as a skirt, wrapped with a big belt and cowboy boots and a funky necklace, or wear it as a dress tied around the neck as shown, or under the arms. And yes, you can obviously cut this piece up and make stunning pillows. But enjoy using it first.
